Meet the team

Sue Radbourne joined DustScan in 2005, shortly after the firm was established. She has extensive experience in managing the day to day functions and finances of SMEs. Sue initially took the position of Office Manager but her role has evolved as the firm has grown and she was appointed Director of Finance and Administration in 2016. She is responsible for business, HR, financial and key account management whilst continuing to manage the day to day organisation of our offices. Sue has long standing relationships with many clients and suppliers.

Oliver joined DustScan in 2006; he is a Chartered Scientist and has an honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of Portsmouth. He is responsible for business management, development, planning and strategy. His consulting expertise lie in occupational exposure and indoor air quality assessment. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Air Quality Working Group and was a member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) IAQ Working Group, and co-author of their IAQ Guidance: Assessment, Monitoring, Modelling and Mitigation. Oliver has also previously served on the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) Council and trustee board.

Gordon Allison joined DustScan in 2019 as a Principal Consultant. He has a degree in Environmental Chemistry and an MSc in Air Pollution Management & Control from the University of Birmingham, where he has been a guest lecturer since 2001. Gordon has over 20 years’ experience in environmental consultancy, with a focus on air quality from transport and industrial sources. He has been an expert witness for air quality at planning enquiries. He was the lead for air quality for High Speed Two between 2013 and 2016, providing the evidence for the Phase 1 Parliamentary select committees, and assisting in negotiating the settlements with stakeholders, writing the HS2 Air Quality Strategy, and setting its targets for health impact and carbon vehicle emissions. Gordon has contributed to the development of IAQM odour guidance, construction dust monitoring guidance and to the 2019 Environment Bill.

Andrew Green joined DustScan in 2014 after graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a first class honours degree in Environmental Science. Andrew assists with overseeing the day to day operations of the business and managing projects and staff resources. He works on a range of dust and air quality projects and has helped develop some of the firm’s laboratory activities that use detailed analytical methods for environmental forensic investigations. He also assists with workplace/occupational exposure assessments and indoor air quality monitoring and consultancy work.

Daniel Quinn joined the firm in June 2015 with a BA in Earth Sciences from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in Quaternary Sciences from Royal Holloway University of London. His primary consultancy work includes carrying out air quality and transport assessments. Daniel also supports with detailed dust characterisation and microscopy work. His recent projects include air quality and odour assessments for power plants and transport assessments for residential and commercial projects

Andy Fisher joined DustScan in 2023 as a Principal Consultant. He has an honours degree in Environmental Biology, holds the Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene and is a Licentiate member of the BOHS. Andy has had a range of roles in environmental consultancy, starting with laboratory work (wet chemistry and microbiology) before going into environmental field work, and progressing into H&S compliance and specialising in occupational hygiene (workplace exposure risk assessing). He has nearly two decades of experience in occupational hygiene/workplace assessments including hazardous substance, workplace noise and vibration, and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) testing.

Paul joined DustScan in 2018 after graduating from Durham University where he read Environmental Geoscience. He is working on a range of Air Quality projects including planning assessments and dispersion modelling used to support the Construction, Manufacturing and Extractive Industries.

Jo joined DustScan in 2022. She has an extensive background in the Customer Service industry, having previously worked for the John Lewis Partnership for 14 years, where she also developed her passion regarding employee ownership. Before then, she worked in an NHS Pharmacy as a Dispenser. She is responsible for monitoring and processing the hundreds of incoming samples we receive every month and preparing them for routine analysis. She also assists in the day to day running of the business and is often the friendly voice you may recognise at the end of the phone.

Sarah Doyle joined DustScan in February 2023 after completing an air quality internship at an award-winning international planning, engineering and design consultancy. She graduated in 2022 from the University of Reading with an MSc in Environmental Pollution and also has a first-class honours degree in Geography from Liverpool John Moores University. Sarah is part of our air quality team and helps deliver a wide range of projects, from planning assessments to detailed emissions modelling. She also assists with the firm’s laboratory analysis and dust consultancy work.

Tim has a background in technical, electrical engineering and laboratory-based quality control in the food sector. Tim also served in the Territorial Army for 12 years. He is responsible for the manufacture and installation of our monitoring equipment, routine sample analysis in our laboratory and reporting client data.

Holly Hope joined DustScan in September 2024 after graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a first-class (hons) BSc in Environmental Science. Holly has joined our dust consultancy team where she will be working on dust and air quality monitoring reports, impact and climate change assessments and management plans, mainly for clients in the minerals sector. She is already assisting on client projects: summarising and presenting air quality monitoring data and carrying out microscopy analyses.

Hugh Datson has a PhD from Leeds University’s School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering and a first class honours degree in geology and environmental sciences from Oxford Brookes University. He first joined DustScan Ltd in 2004 and now acts as an External Consultant on some of our largest and most complex projects. Hugh has contributed to various Good Practice and Technical Guidance documents, has authored numerous Dust and Air Quality Assessments and is a recognised UK expert in dust consultancy, monitoring and characterisation.
